Most outdoor cushions are designed to be showerproof, but this does not mean they are weatherproof. Make sure to check the label and care instructions carefully when purchasing outdoor cushions. You can find many suitable garden storage units to keep your cushions protected in between uses. Or, better still, keep your cushions tucked away in your garage or garden shed during inclement weather.
If you have a garden furniture cover, we would still recommend storing the cushions somewhere indoors and dry whilst covering the furniture frame.

Although it may sound unusual, plastic rattan is actually much better suited to being outdoors. Natural rattan is strong and durable, but it struggles to withstand many weather conditions. Natural rattan is much better suited to being kept indoors, such as in a conservatory.
Synthetic rattan is most often made of plastic, making it very resistant to outdoor conditions. It still needs to be cared for and cleaned properly, so always read the care guide. Maintained correctly, synthetic rattan can provide your garden with furniture that lasts the years.
Whilst garden furniture covers are perfect for protecting the frames of your garden sofas, leaving the sofa cushions under cover for long periods of time could allow for damp to build up and rot the fabric. We would therefore suggest storing your garden sofa cushions separately, in specially designed garden storage boxes or garden buildings.
Keeping the cushions nice and dry between usage will preserve their condition and reduce the need for washing. Washing your garden cushions may seem tempting, but it will remove some of the weatherproof coating in the process and shouldn't be done regularly.
