Whether you’re doing Veganuary or looking to have a healthier diet we have drawn up some tips we think that could help you with your vegan-friendly diet!

Veg is the star of the show

When planning your meal instead of basing it around meat, base it around vegetables, for example, substitute the meat in your stir fry with more veggies!

Don’t fall for it

It’s easy to believe because it’s vegan it’s healthy, but processed vegan meals are still processed meals. Stick with buying whole foods and fresh fruit and veg.

Variety is key

Mix it up a little bit by trying new recipes or tweaking old ones to make them vegan. The last thing you want is to become bored with your meals, food is supposed to be enjoyable so try and keep it that way by having variety.

Make a switch

By switching your meat and dairy products with a vegan alternative will ensure you don’t feel deprived. An example is swapping cow’s milk with coconut or almond milk and swapping meat to Quorn and tofu. Doing this will keep you enjoying the things you already eat and drink but now it’s vegan-friendly.

Small changes make a big difference

Going vegan doesn’t mean you have to throw yourself straight into the deep end, start small and slowly cut out non-vegan-friendly foods, this will help you stick to it better, for example, next time you make a curry take out the meat and swap it for vegetables or legumes such as potatoes, cauliflower and chickpeas.

Why did you start

If you do start to struggle with your new vegan diet then ask yourself why you started in the first place, this will help you stay motivated and dedicated.
