 QD Customers are Nuts about Garden Birds During December and the onset of the extreme cold, stores sold in excess of 300,000 fat balls and over 26 tonnes of wild bird food. Many stores sold out of bird tables and saw huge demand for all types of bird feeders. QD's Marketing Operations Manager, Alan Hatcher, commented on the winter sales rush. "These figures prove just how concerned our customers are about helping wild birds survive the extreme weather conditions the whole of the UK is currently experiencing. People are heeding the RSPB's advice to provide nutritious food for hungry birds visiting their gardens. By shopping at QD people can make a real difference to the welfare of our wild birds without having to spend a fortune in the process. Fittingly there are even posts on Twitter about the urgent need to put out plentiful bird food this winter!" All QD stores stock a wide range of high quality feed and several different designs of functional garden feeders, including a squirrel proof feeding station, and bird tables to suit every garden and budget. Customers will find books in-store giving advice on which types of seeds and nuts attract particular species of wild bird into their gardens. They can also choose from an extensive bird food menu featuring several varieties of seeds, sunflower hearts, peanuts, suet blocks (with ingredients as diverse as berry, coconut and insect) as well as fat balls and dumplings.
